While I wait for my airplane trip to Lithuania to help in Simon Black’s annual event for young entrepreneurs, I’m thinking about my car. It’s time to get something different. My engine is apparently dying. If that’s the case, I’m getting something like a cool hybrid. I’m thinking about a Tesla. Those are neat cars!

This isn’t the only thing I have to consider today. I have a long list of to-do’s to move to the to-done list. But that’s how it is every day for me and should be for you. One step at a time each and every day you will move forward. Instead of thinking about everything in one overwhelming batch, break tasks down.

What do you have to get done in the next couple of hours? How about in this day? Don’t overwhelm your brain. Write tasks down if it helps you. Scratch them off as you go.

One thing I like to do is write down five things I’ve gotten done today. They may not even be big things, but there’s something about seeing my activities and that I’ve done them that helps me move through the rest of my list. Think of it as a treat. Then tackle the rest.

You might consider tracking yourself. Every 15 minutes stop what you’re doing and write down what you’ve done. It’s a simple psychological tactic and it works. You’ll be amazed by how many things you actually do in a day!
